HVAC Install Manager
Position Summary
The HVAC Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of residential HVAC installation operations, including project review, job turnover from sales to operations, scheduling, staffing, quality control, customer satisfaction, training, and departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop HVAC installation technicians, leads, and apprentices.
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance reviews, field evaluations, and ongoing training initiatives.
Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard installation personnel.
Review sold jobs to ensure scope, equipment selection, pricing, permits, and installation requirements are accurate and complete.
Conduct turnover meetings with the Sales Department to verify project details before scheduling.
Identify and resolve scope gaps, design concerns, material shortages, or operational challenges before installation begins.
Ensure all job documentation, financing approvals, customer agreements, and permits are complete before releasing projects to production.
Act as the primary operational liaison between Sales, Dispatch, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Installation teams.
Oversee daily installation scheduling and workforce allocation.
Ensure installations are completed on time, within budget, and according to company standards.
Monitor job progress and proactively address scheduling conflicts and operational issues.
Cook up equipment, materials, permits, and subcontractors as needed.
Conduct job site visits and installation quality inspections.
Perform post-installation audits to verify workmanship, code compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Resolve escalated customer concerns and provide timely communication throughout the installation process.
Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications, local codes, and company quality standards.
Monitor call-backs, warranty claims, and installation-related service issues to identify improvement opportunities.
Track and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Installation revenue
- Gross profit margins
- Labor efficiency
- Job completion rates
- Customer satisfaction scores
- Callback and warranty percentages
Support budget planning and departmental profitability goals.
Manage inventory usage and material costs to maximize efficiency.
Qualifications
5+ years of residential HVAC installation or Management experience.
Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, installation best practices, load calculations, and local code requirements.
Demonstrated ability to review job scopes and oversee projects from sale through completion.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred: EPA Certification, NATE Certification, Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field service management software, Experience managing installation budgets and departmental financial performance, Residential retrofit and replacement project experience.
