HVAC/ Industrial Mechanic

About the role

The HVAC/Industrial Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the reliability and operational performance of the Curing Room Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Refrigeration Conditioning Units (RCUs). This role supports efficient operations while ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of Curing Room AHUs and RCUs to verify proper operation and performance.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance activities, including:
  • Changing filters
  • Cleaning equipment and systems
  • Verifying equipment is in good working condition
• Troubleshoot and identify mechanical and electrical malfunctions within HVAC and related systems.
• Document and communicate maintenance concerns identified during inspections and preventive maintenance to facilitate timely repairs and corrective actions.
• Accurately record and report equipment faults, deficiencies, and other unusual operating conditions.
• Apply pipefitting knowledge, including work with:
  • PVC piping
  • Threaded pipe systems
  • Pipe insulation
  • Welding (preferred)
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe and tubing, and install insulation as required.
• Follow all safety procedures and ensure systems operate in compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
• Report any food safety or quality concerns immediately to Plant Management and the SQFP team.
• Adhere to PIM Brands GMP requirements, including maintaining accurate maintenance and repair documentation and records.
• Demonstrate accountability, ownership, and a proactive approach to assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC service experience.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and operating principles.
• Chiller and refrigeration experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform accurate, quality work while complying with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional service.
• Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Technical Competencies

• Mechanical repairs
• Plumbing systems and repairs
• Equipment installations
• General industrial maintenance
• Fabrication and welding experience (preferred)

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed within a manufacturing facility. The plant environment includes:

• High noise levels
• Continuous pedestrian and motorized equipment traffic
• Moving machinery and equipment
• Frequent activity and production operations

Employees are required to comply with all GMP and safety requirements, including wearing designated personal protective equipment (PPE) and GMP apparel, such as:

• Hair net
• Beard net (if applicable)
• Company-issued uniform

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
• Manual dexterity required to operate tools, equipment, and controls.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $36.00 to $40.00 per hour. PIM Brands considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, qualifications, education, and business and organizational needs.
