HVAC Controls Technician II - Service

As a Controls Technician II at Daikin Applied, you will be responsible for installation, programming, and service of commercial building digital control systems. These responsibilities will grow based on your exposure to tasks, troubleshooting skill development, and consistent completion of assignments. You will work with Building Automation Systems (BAS), including Daikin-branded controls and third-party systems.

Location: Huntsville, AL (Onsite)

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive and professional customer service to build and maintain long-term customer relationships
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed or requested by customers
• Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming
• Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians
• Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects
• Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner
• Interact with and train customers by offering status reports before, during, and after service calls, and explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning; maintain all required certifications and develop new skill sets
• Uphold company standards, policies, procedures, and maintain a clean work area
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
• Provide rotational emergency call support as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical training and 3+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as mandated by local law
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in BAS, HVAC, or related industry
• Proficiency with test instruments and calibration tools
• Competency in operation of engineering/commissioning tools, DDC controllers, field devices, and BACnet protocol fundamentals
• Competency in the operation of HVAC equipment and controls
• Ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams
• Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification
• Experience with common integration protocols such as: BACnet MST/IP, LON, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL
• Strong computer skills, including computer networking fundamentals
• OSHA 10 certification (provided during onboarding if not already held)
• Current first aid/CPR card

Pay

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $31.60 to $50.37 in Alabama. Individual base pay will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
