Responsibilities
- Service, repair, design, configure, and operate complete HVAC building control systems and other low-voltage control sub-systems (e.g., lighting, nurse call, data networks) to meet customer and Johnson Controls goals.
- Develop complex software programs, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure proper building control system operations.
- Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, sales, service teams, and subcontractors.
- Design, configure, and service technically complex building control systems for customer facilities.
- Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bills of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs to operate systems per customer facility requirements.
- Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services, and installation.
- Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
- Assist in loading and commissioning system and network-level controllers.
- Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information for as-built drawings and software updates.
- Keep management, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
- Conduct site-specific training for owners/operators on building control systems.
- Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations.
- Perform value engineering to provide cost-effective solutions while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Provide work direction to Service Controls Technicians (I, Senior I, and Senior II).
- Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the construction, service, or HVAC industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building sub-systems.
- Experience integrating low-voltage building sub-systems using industry protocols (e.g., LON, BACnet).
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge to non-technical audiences.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in computer-related drafting tools.
Pay
Hiring hourly range: $25–$37. The final rate will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market alignment.
