Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and support the daily operation of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical equipment, and BAS).
- Perform routine inspections and assist in identifying potential risks or system inefficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automation systems, controls, and facility equipment; escalate complex problems as needed.
- Support corrective and preventive maintenance activities for facility systems and equipment.
- Aid in responding to alarms, abnormal conditions, and facility-related emergencies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support repairs, maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Support implementation of system modifications, upgrades, and expansions under guidance of senior engineers.
- Review and follow control sequences for HVAC and building systems; recommend minor improvements for efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and utilize CMMS for work order tracking and documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Provide support in training junior technicians and learning from senior staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of facility systems and work areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Technical School Diploma or Professional Certification in related area preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, controls systems, or technical services.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of facility-related equipment.
- Exposure to building automation systems (BAS) such as Johnson Controls (Metasys) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, steam, chilled water, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in a hospital, campus, or multi-building environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of BAS communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LON).
- Ability to read and interpret control diagrams and HVAC sequences.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and compliance requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, contractors, and facility occupants.
- Ability to adapt and learn technical systems and tools quickly.
Qualifications
- First-Class Steam Operating Engineer’s License must be obtained within two years of hire.
- First Class Refrigeration Operating Engineer’s License must be obtained within two years of hire.
