About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to perform electrical and mechanical inspection, start-up, service, and maintenance on the equipment we sell. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Vice President of Sales and offers a pay range of $45–$50 per hour. The role requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers, Service Coordinators, and customers, as well as flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electrical and mechanical inspection and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance.
  • Conducts specific preventative maintenance, including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment.
  • Uses experience and technical skills to determine service requirements and interpret engineering drawings for system layout, location, and operation.
  • Represents the company positively to other trades, contractors, and owners.
  • Advises owners/representatives on preventive maintenance inspections and corrective actions.
  • Suggests additional services beneficial to the customer.
  • Works in a team-based environment to share information, workload, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Submits required paperwork to the Service Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Works safely daily, ensuring all safety measures are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training.
  • 1–5 years of experience as a Service Helper or Service Technician in a residential or commercial environment.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
  • Electrical knowledge required; EPA Certification preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer).
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms with noisy operating equipment, extreme weather, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), and elevated heights.
  • Physical ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds (frequently up to 75 pounds).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple duties.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; write correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and solve problems involving several variables.
  • Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental & Physical Demands

  • Required to work in a field environment at multiple customer sites daily.
  • Regularly uses hands to operate a computer keyboard and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
