About the role

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is seeking visionary leaders to supervise eligibility operations for medical, food, cash, and childcare benefits through the ONE eligibility system. This role advances ODHS’s Equity North Star and core values while shaping the well-being of Oregonians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative functions to carry out department objectives and implement the department’s vision, leveraging local community resources and staff.
  • Participate in the management of agency programs, development of program rules and policies, program evaluation, and budget preparation.
  • Monitor and analyze local office effectiveness in policy implementation and application through reviews, routine monitoring, and quality control data.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and monitor operational effectiveness using reports and data.
  • Facilitate communication of program issues between department staff, community partners, the district office, and central office.
  • Anticipate agency needs and direction, articulating that vision to staff and the community to drive effective change in services, programs, partnerships, and resource use.
  • Actively model ODHS’s Equity North Star goals and core values (Stewardship, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Service Equity, Innovation, and Professionalism).
  • Ensure staff understand these goals and values, holding yourself and staff accountable for integrating them into daily actions and behaviors.

Requirements

  • Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR
  • One year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Working Conditions

  • On-site, in-person at the Hillsboro/Beaverton OEP ODHS Storefront Office; standard hours 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Occasional travel to attend meetings and trainings.
  • Works in an integrated environment with diverse programs, partners, and staff.
  • Frequent contact with the public, including Oregonians experiencing emotional and financial stress; requires compassion and professionalism through a trauma-informed lens.
  • High-stress, high-volume workload with short time frames.
  • Potential exposure to illness, disease, and unsanitary conditions through direct client contact.

Background Checks

  • Criminal history and background check required for finalists; adverse results may lead to disqualification.
  • Must complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form within three days of hire; ODHS uses E-Verify to confirm work authorization in the United States.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license or other acceptable method of transportation for routine travel, along with an acceptable driving record.
  • No visa sponsorship offered.

Pay
