Role Overview
The HR Specialist will develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and fairness. They will monitor compliance with federal, state, and internal HR regulations, investigate policy violations, and serve as a backup for recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee engagement functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures across all departments
- Educate and support managers and employees in understanding and applying policies
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, personnel files, and compliance data
- Serve as backup for:
- Recruitment and onboarding processes (postings, interviews, verifications, orientation materials)
- Payroll processing and reporting support
- Benefits administration (enrollments, terminations, changes, and open enrollment)
- Employee engagement and recognition initiatives
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) strongly preferred.
- Experience: Prior HR experience with policy development, compliance, or employee relations preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
