About the role

The City of Baldwin Park seeks a Human Resources/Risk Manager to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in managing human resources and risk management programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for human resources and risk management.
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Manage employee relations, conduct investigations, and resolve conflicts.
  • Coordinate training and development programs for staff.
  • Assist with compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records related to human resources and risk management activities.
  • Work closely with the Risk Management team to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Requirements

  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience performing multiple phases of human resources and risk management programs, preferably in a public sector environment.
  • At least three years of supervisory and mid-level management experience, preferably within a government agency.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or closely related field.
  • An IPMA Certified Professional (CP) or Senior Certified Professional Certificate (SCP) and/or SHRM certificate is desirable.

  • Knowledge of human resources and risk management principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Pay

Monthly salary range: $10,599.59 - $14,204.46.
