About the role
We are looking for a Human Resources & Payroll Administrator to support payroll processing and HR operations from our office. This position is well suited for a detail-focused individual who can manage sensitive information carefully, work accurately under deadlines, and build strong working relationships across the organization. The role blends hands-on payroll administration with HR systems support, reporting, compliance coordination, and employee record management in a dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee biweekly payroll processing for a workforce of more than 200 employees, verifying accuracy and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local requirements.
- Maintain payroll files, validate payroll-related information, and complete reconciliations to support accurate financial records.
- Allocate payroll expenses across multiple business units and property portfolios, including related billing activities.
- Work closely with accounting partners to investigate variances, resolve payroll issues, and assist with recurring and ad hoc reporting needs.
- Contribute to payroll audit activity and assist with year-end payroll tasks, documentation, and follow-up items.
- Administer HRIS records and workflows by updating employee data, supporting reporting needs, and identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency.
- Support onboarding coordination, personnel documentation, and employee file maintenance in alignment with company policies and compliance standards.
- Prepare routine and custom reports for managers and leadership, and assist with analysis, troubleshooting, and data review tied to payroll and HR records.
- Participate in HR operational projects and process improvement efforts that strengthen accuracy, compliance, and overall team effectiveness.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience processing payroll, preferably in an environment supporting multi-state or multi-entity operations.
- Working knowledge of payroll practices, payroll tax requirements, employee benefits administration, and basic accounting concepts.
- Experience using payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now and confidence working within HR information systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with excellent attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on critical tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, for reporting, reconciliation, and data review.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential employee and payroll information, along with a proactive, service-oriented approach.
