About the role

The College of Arts & Sciences seeks an HR Manager to deliver end-to-end HR support in close collaboration with academic leadership, finance partners, and shared service teams. Reporting to the Director of Personnel Services, this role provides comprehensive human resources support to the Social Sciences 2 cohort, covering staff, student, and academic HR functions across the following units:

  • Department of Geography
  • Department of History
  • Department of Law, Societies & Justice
  • Department of Political Science
  • Disability Studies program
  • Center for Labor Studies

This position is located on the Seattle campus, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with up to two remote workdays per week.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the academic human resources adviser and reference for units, managing faculty hires, reappointments, leave requests, FMLA requests, and sabbatical requests.
  • Ensure accurate and timely creation and submission of employment action packets; collaborate with department chairs to form faculty committees and complete life-cycle actions, including temporary hires.
  • Complete quarterly payroll rosters and submit to the College’s Shared Environment; process individual HR/payroll tickets as needed (40%).
  • Act as the student employment expert, managing academic student employee hires (ASEs and hourly employees); work with faculty leadership to create offer letters and coordinate timely fellowship and stipend issuance; assist with hiring other temporary employees as required (35%).
  • Partner with the Finance Manager to inform them of hires, leaves, and their budgetary impact; ensure frontline staff have guidance on time sheet completion (20%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned (5%).

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of four years of experience in human resources
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Experience synthesizing diverse data sources to reach personnel and policy/procedural recommendations
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas to non-HR audiences
    • Strong problem-solving skills

Pay

Annual pay range: $76,800.00 – $85,800.00
