Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary resource for employee questions and concerns, responding with sound judgment and a commitment to fair treatment.
- Manage employee relations matters — investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution — and advise managers on appropriate, legal, policy-aligned actions.
- Lead the new hire onboarding experience, including background checks, payroll documentation, I-9 verification, Day 1 coordination, and new hire orientation.
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS system; respond to employment verifications, unemployment claims, and garnishment requests.
- Lead the performance management process, partnering with managers on consistent execution of reviews and ongoing feedback.
- Stay current on federal and state employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, paid leave) and share relevant updates with leadership and the HR team.
- Bring forward recommendations for engagement and retention strategies that support the Company's competitive position.
- Partner with business leaders to identify talent and competency gaps and develop solutions that strengthen organizational capability.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle within the ATS — requisitions, candidate flow, hiring manager coordination, and offer preparation.
- Develop clear, timely HR communications on policies, procedures and HR initiatives.
- Serve as a reliable resource on company policies and benefits; partner with the VP of HR on complex policy matters.
- Maintain compliance with employment law posting requirements across all site locations.
- Manage the annual service awards program and contribute to cross-functional HR initiatives including open enrollment and wellness programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of HR or related experience.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required.
- Payroll experience highly desirable.
- Solid knowledge of federal and state employment law.
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills — able to convey ideas clearly, navigate sensitive conversations, and build trust across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
- PREFERRED: HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
- Background in construction, real estate, hospitality, or facilities management.
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills.
