Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Human Resource (HR) Manager will oversee all functions of Hiba Academy's Human Resources department providing frontline HR services to faculty, leadership and staff. The role will cover the full employee lifecycle including recruitment and selection of staff, onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and embedding company policies and practices.

The HR Manager is also responsible for ensuring that Hiba Academy is fully compliant with Federal and State regulations and laws in relation to employment practices and for staying abreast of legal updates that may impact the school.

The HR Manager will provide professional, accurate and timely advice and expertise to school leaders and employees on all areas of HR, whilst also providing caring, empathetic and effective support and service levels to stakeholders which reflects Hiba Academy's status as an elite school and employer of choice. They will oversee delivery of HR strategies at the school-level around Employee Relations, Compensation, Performance Management, Engagement, Development and Wellbeing.

The HR Manager must display excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively across levels including with the Director of Finance & Operations, Head of School, Global Chief People Officer, Central Office (CO) staff, employees and external companies, consultants and vendors.

In the early years of operation, the HR Manager is a standalone role. Although they will have considerable support from the Central Office and school leadership team, they must be confident and capable to work self-sufficiently and be the key point of contact for HR matters and expertise in school. As the school grows, an HR Assistant will be added to the team reporting directly to the HR Manager.

Key responsibilities

This is primarily a frontline HR position which is the first point of contact for all HR support, advice, expertise, and guidance. Non-faculty teams support the smooth operational running of the school, allowing school leaders to focus on Academic and Leadership matters. The HR Manager is required to provide timely, effective and personalized support to all stakeholders, reflective of the elite nature of the school, and to be readily accessible to faculty during the limited time they have available in the school day. All school staff are expected to contribute to the life of the school and broader school operations including supervision and emergency protocols. In order to fulfil the essential duties, this is a 100% on-site role.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or above
• Relevant professional HR qualification e.g. Masters in Human Resource Management, SHRM preferred or equivalent experience and willingness to obtain professional certification

Language:

• Native level proficiency in English with exceptional skills in written and spoken communication

Experience:

• 4 - 5 years in a generalist HR role, with experience of a broad range of HR functions, knowledge of employment law and practice with prior exposure to Californian employment law in particular
• Experience in an HR management role may be an advantage as would knowledge of schools or other education or related sectors
