The HR Manager will act as a strategic partner to various business units, working closely with functional managers to develop and implement human capital strategies aligned with the company's objectives. You will support the Human Resources Director in identifying key HR issues, designing action plans, and fostering a positive, safe, and compliant workplace culture. Your role will involve managing talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, and labor relations, including supporting union and non-union teams.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR generalist or business partner experience, preferably within manufacturing, construction, or similar industries.
- Experience supporting unionized workforces is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to quickly understand business needs and provide effective HR solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with SAP or similar HRIS systems.
- Additional certifications such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Partner with functional managers to develop and execute human capital plans that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation of HR strategies by working closely with the HR Director and line managers to address organizational challenges and HR issues.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on all aspects of people management, including talent development, performance appraisals, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Participate actively in recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt positions, including campus recruiting, candidate selection, and compensation negotiations.
- Support onboarding processes and facilitate training and development programs tailored to business needs.
- Assist managers in addressing employee performance concerns, ensuring compliance with policies, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Collaborate with HR Shared Services to streamline administrative processes, reduce duplication, and improve overall HR service delivery.
- Manage employee relations issues, including addressing grievances, disciplinary actions, and legal compliance matters, working with legal counsel when necessary.
- Support union negotiations and maintain positive labor relations with union representatives and members.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility by communicating policies and ensuring adherence across all work environments.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, sharing best practices across the HR team, and supporting organizational change efforts.
