About the role
We're seeking a Human Resources Generalist with a strong background in ERISA-governed benefits to join our mission-driven team at Toole Design. Our ideal candidate excels at explaining complex benefits, cares deeply about equity, and understands the importance of total compensation and performance.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of People and Culture, coordinating with Accounting leadership, and external advisors to advise and support leadership and staff, specializing in benefits governed by ERISA.
- Communications strategies and support to staff, reporting, and overseeing compliance.
- Lead audits, ensuring accurate reporting and strong documentation.
- Serve as a trusted partner and leader in the firm for benefits-related needs.
- Support staff, serving as a trusted partner on the People & Culture team, advising on policies and approaches that support the mission of the organization and the needs of the team.
- Advise staff, create and co-lead trainings, and coach team members as a senior member of a People & Culture (HR) team that puts staff needs first.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, organizational development, human resources, economics, accounting, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 4 years working with ERISA-governed benefits and retirement plans.
- Strong knowledge of qualified retirement plans and ERISA laws, with hands-on experience managing compliance testing and reporting processes such as Form 5500, ADP/ACP, and 409(p).
- Proven ability to coach and mentor staff while collaborating across teams to develop strategies and creative solutions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- HR certification required (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR); retirement plan certifications such as CPSP, QKA, or QPA preferred.
