Banner University Medical Group is a nonprofit faculty practice plan affiliated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine in Phoenix and Tucson. Our 1,100-plus clinicians provide primary and specialty care, mentor over 1,200 residents and fellows, and uphold the three-part mission of academic medicine: research, education, and excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Drive business solutions, culture development, and talent management strategies in partnership with the broader HR organization, leveraging metrics, data, and analytics to enhance business performance.
- Consult and advise business leaders on talent issues impacting engagement, retention, and overall business performance.
- Develop and implement critical talent management solutions for complex business situations, including organizational structure, workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, change management, and process redesign.
- Collaborate with leaders to create and align innovative strategies for positive business outcomes, focusing on integration and best practices across the organization.
- Act as a strategic analyst, gathering data and making key decisions to drive results within assigned business units.
- Serve as a highly visible and influential member of the leadership team, providing counsel on HR management, policies, employment law, and labor relations to maintain high retention and engagement.
- Model expected Banner behaviors, including optimizing organizational talent, shaping the future, executive presence, collaboration, and consumer-oriented culture.
- Provide direct, actionable feedback to address people-related challenges and build high-performing teams.
- Assess organizational talent and drive positive outcomes through strategic HR initiatives.
- Support merger and acquisition activities, promoting cultural integration within assigned business units.
- Excel in a matrixed organization, establishing performance measures, evaluating operations, and ensuring efficient delivery of clinical and non-clinical services.
- Promote system consistency while addressing unique business issues for assigned groups.
- Influence management at all levels to create an environment of choice in a fast-paced setting, handling unpredictable situations with potential financial or brand exposure.
- Coordinate with administrators, legal counsel, executives, and other staff to drive system integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible human resources management experience, with extensive knowledge in talent development, talent acquisition, retention/engagement, and coaching.
- Experience in a large, complex, highly-matrixed, multi-site organization with diverse professional disciplines.
- Proven experience leading best-in-class HR organizational practices.
- Thorough understanding of employment law and healthcare business regulations.
- Strong business acumen, with knowledge of current and future HR policies, practices, trends, and technology.
- Exceptional human relations, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and navigate complex situations.
- Conflict management skills, with the ability to advocate tactfully, build trust, and clarify conversations.
- Leadership characteristics: results-oriented, persuasive, inspirational, decisive, highly visible, honorable, collaborative, innovative, and passionate about continuous improvement.
Employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it throughout employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
- Master’s Degree.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, hybrid schedule.
