About the role
We are looking for a dependable Human Resources (HR) Assistant to support both reception and HR operations for a contract position based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This three-month assignment will provide coverage during a leave of absence and is well suited for someone who can shift smoothly between employee-facing administrative work and front desk responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, professionalism, and prior experience handling HR coordination in a fast-paced office environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the front reception area by welcoming guests, answering phone calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate contacts.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support for the HR team, including document handling, data entry, and general office coordination.
- Enter and maintain new employee information within the HR information system with a high level of accuracy.
- Coordinate pre-employment activities by arranging appointments, screenings, and related scheduling needs.
- Prepare employee identification badges and assist with onboarding-related logistics for new team members.
- Alternate between receptionist coverage and HR support duties based on daily business needs and staffing priorities.
- Assist with candidate screening coordination and help ensure onboarding documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in human resources, office administration, or a similar support role.
- Previous exposure to HR administration, onboarding activities, and employee support processes.
- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and comfort entering and updating employee records.
- Ability to communicate professionally with visitors, employees, and internal stakeholders in person and by phone.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
Skills
- Experience supporting employee relations activities or candidate screening processes is preferred.
