We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to support key administrative and coordination activities for a busy HR team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys organizing information, assisting with hiring workflows, and helping create a smooth onboarding experience for new hires. The role offers a part-time schedule and requires a detail-oriented, responsive approach when working with internal staff and candidates.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate special HR projects and provide day-to-day administrative support to keep assignments moving efficiently.
- Evaluate applicant materials, organize candidates by opening, and identify individuals who should advance in the selection process.
- Schedule interviews and reserve meeting spaces to support a smooth recruitment experience.
- Maintain accurate HR files and ensure documents are properly organized and accessible.
- Prepare onboarding packets and binders for new employees to support a well-structured start date process.
- Assist with hiring-related tasks such as candidate screening coordination and general candidate communication when needed.
- Support HR data tracking and routine updates using office systems and related tools.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned to meet departmental priorities.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; additional college coursework is preferred.
- Prior experience in HR administration, onboarding, employee relations support, or related office coordination work is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and comfort learning HRIS or other HR-related systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
