About the role
We are looking for a Human Resources Assistant to support daily HR operations in Waterbury, Connecticut. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone with experience across employee onboarding, recruiting coordination, and HR administrative support who can help create a smooth and positive employee experience. The role will contribute to core HR processes, maintain accurate employee information, and assist with activities tied to HR systems and hiring workflows.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day human resources activities, including document management, employee record updates, and general administrative coordination.
- Guide new hires through onboarding steps by preparing paperwork, coordinating pre-employment requirements, and ensuring a positive start to employment.
- Assist with recruitment efforts across the full hiring cycle, including scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and helping move openings through each stage.
- Conduct and track background screening activities and follow up on required hiring documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update employee data within HR information systems, including ADP Online, while helping preserve data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Respond to routine employee questions related to HR policies, procedures, and employment records, escalating more complex matters when needed.
- Support employee relations initiatives by helping document concerns, coordinating follow-up, and promoting consistent HR practices.
- Provide operational support for HR system-related processes, including onboarding workflows and other administrative updates when needed.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in human resources support, HR administration, or a closely related role.
- Hands-on experience with onboarding, employee record maintenance, and general HR process coordination.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and the ability to work effectively in systems such as ADP Online.
- Experience supporting background checks and other pre-employment screening activities.
- Knowledge of employee relations practices and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Exposure to full cycle recruiting, including interview scheduling and candidate communication.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
