About the role
The Human Resources Generalist I supports key HR functions across the organization with a strong focus on compensation and benefits administration, while also assisting with talent acquisition, onboarding, compliance, HR administration, HRIS management, and employment documentation. This role serves as a primary resource for employees and managers regarding benefit programs, compensation-related processes, leave administration, and HR policies, ensuring a positive employee experience and consistent application of company practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in Human Resources or a related role
- Preferrably a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Business Acumen and in-depth knowledge of HR law and HR best practices
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, consultation and presentation skills
- Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law, and HR administrative functions
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA requirements, ACA provisions, and workers’ compensation laws
- Proficiency in Excel, HRIS systems, and general office software
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong ethical judgment and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing organizational needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provides guidance on HR policies, procedures, employment law, and compliance requirements
- Manages onboarding processes, including offer letters and new hire documentation
- Administers employee benefits, handles inquiries, coordinates Open Enrollment, and ensures accurate billing and vendor coordination
- Oversees leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, state laws) and maintains compliance
- Supports recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate communication, and ATS maintenance
- Ensures OSHA compliance by maintaining incident reports, logs, and safety documentation
- Captures and maintains accurate, confidential employee records in compliance with regulations
- Utilizes HRIS to manage employee data, process changes, and generate reports
- Supports compensation initiatives, including analysis, benchmarking, pay equity reviews, and HR metrics
- Assists in developing and updating HR policies and procedures
- Contributes to compensation reviews, job evaluations, and retention-focused programs
- Ensures ACA compliance related to benefits eligibility, reporting, and documentation
- Provides support for Total Rewards initiatives, including audits, reconciliations, and communication efforts
