About the role
The HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day management of HR operations, including the administration of policies, procedures, and programs. This position requires a high degree of organization, planning, task management, and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Partners with hiring managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained, including posting requisitions, outreach initiatives, sourcing resumes, and preparing offers.
- Collects pre-employment screening results to assist in making employment decisions and coordinates employee orientation.
- Represents the company at trade schools, colleges/universities, professional organizations, and job fairs, as needed.
- Maintains electronic personnel files, ensuring all necessary forms and documents are completed and uploaded to the HRIS.
- Ensures compliance with I-9 completion and retention, E-Verify, reasonable accommodations, and posted notices.
- Answers employee and management inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensures accurate completion of payroll and processes employment actions including onboarding, direct deposit, pay changes, promotions, demotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Provides communication and facilitation of the annual benefit open enrollment process and answers routine benefits questions for managers and employees.
- Conducts exit interviews.
- Assists and guides managers in the disciplinary action process and enters disciplinary action data into the HRIS system and bonus spreadsheets.
- Maintains employee turnover tracking and makes recommendations to management based on findings and HR best practices.
- Conducts internal investigations and assists with any EEOC/DOL investigations.
- Partners with managers to ensure all performance and employee relations concerns are handled in a timely and tactful manner and escalated as needed.
- Administers the Affirmative Action Planning process.
- Coordinates company representation in unemployment compensation claims.
- Works with the Human Resources Team to assist with the planning, communicating, and tracking of company-wide special events.
- Facilitates and/or participates in manager and supervisor training, as needed.
- Tracks and coordinates employee review schedules and ensures information is in the HRIS.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communication, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Training.
- PHR certification preferred.

- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to adapt to change and operate rationally under dynamic pressure situations.
- Ability to function as a team member and effectively build relationships with management, peers, staff, and clients.
- Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities with effective distribution of time and effort.
- High degree of autonomy, yet team-oriented with the ability to work cross-functionally within a matrix organization.
