About the role

This role supports various aspects of employee relations, recruitment, and HR operations under the supervision of the Manager of Employee Relations & HRIS.

Responsibilities

  • Supports employee relations activities by gathering information and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Arranges employee engagement activities such as service awards, appreciation events, charitable campaigns, and community outreach efforts.
  • Affords assistance in organizing employee events and company-sponsored activities.
  • Promotes employee programs including discounts, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
  • Supports recruitment activities including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and assisting with applicant tracking.
  • Celebrates pre-employment processes such as reference checks and scheduling physicals.
  • Affords assistance in new employee orientation.
  • Participates in job fairs and recruitment events as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential employee records for active and former employees.
  • Processes routine employee transactions such as hires, terminations, transfers, and status changes.
  • Affords assistance in data entry into HRIS.
  • Prepares routine reports and assists with HR documentation and correspondence.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
  • Responds to employees and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provides general information and directs complex issues to appropriate HR management.
  • Affords assistance in maintaining a basic understanding of employee benefits and HR programs to assist employees.
  • Affords assistance in coordinating employee recognition efforts such as service milestones and acknowledgments.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Experience 1-3 years in employee relations or human resources.
  • Experience supporting events or employee engagement activities.
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Licenses & Certifications: TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required upon hire.
  • Upon hire: Driver's License - Valid state driver's license required.
