About the role
This role supports various aspects of employee relations, recruitment, and HR operations under the supervision of the Manager of Employee Relations & HRIS.
Responsibilities
- Supports employee relations activities by gathering information and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Arranges employee engagement activities such as service awards, appreciation events, charitable campaigns, and community outreach efforts.
- Affords assistance in organizing employee events and company-sponsored activities.
- Promotes employee programs including discounts, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
- Supports recruitment activities including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and assisting with applicant tracking.
- Celebrates pre-employment processes such as reference checks and scheduling physicals.
- Affords assistance in new employee orientation.
- Participates in job fairs and recruitment events as needed.
- Maintains accurate and confidential employee records for active and former employees.
- Processes routine employee transactions such as hires, terminations, transfers, and status changes.
- Affords assistance in data entry into HRIS.
- Prepares routine reports and assists with HR documentation and correspondence.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
- Responds to employees and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Provides general information and directs complex issues to appropriate HR management.
- Affords assistance in maintaining a basic understanding of employee benefits and HR programs to assist employees.
- Affords assistance in coordinating employee recognition efforts such as service milestones and acknowledgments.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with employees at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- Experience 1-3 years in employee relations or human resources.
- Experience supporting events or employee engagement activities.
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
- Licenses & Certifications: TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required upon hire.
- Upon hire: Driver's License - Valid state driver's license required.
