Human Resources Generalist
About the role
The HR Generalist role at UGN is essential in supporting various HR functions and ensuring the smooth operation of the organization. This role involves assisting and supporting the Human Resources department in developing and executing Team Member procedures and policies, and providing guidance for all UGN Team Members.
Responsibilities
- Own the full recruiting cycle for non-management Team Members, including opening job requisitions, vetting resumes, and submitting qualified candidates to hiring managers, scheduling and attending interviews, executing offers, and documentation.
- Conduct onboarding and orientation of new hires and temp-to-hire conversions, and keep records of the Team Member Referral Bonus program and payment.
- Execute job bids for non-management positions, including hourly production, material handlers, and team leaders.
- Initiate and document investigations for non-management Team Member grievances, with escalation to the Human Resources Manager for issues that are not easily resolved by policy.
- Work with Coordinators and Managers to issue progressive disciplinary action to non-management Team Members, with escalation to the Human Resources Manager for issues that are not easily resolved by policy.
- Oversee non-management termination execution, including termination discussion and letter, administration in HRIS, and communications to payroll.
- Conduct exit interviews for all non-management Team Member voluntary terminations.
- Support payroll by reviewing all timesheets, working with Coordinators and Managers to ensure that timesheets are approved by deadlines.
- Take an active role in the planning and execution of regular Team Member Engagement activities.
- Support benefits with leave of absences, including FMLA and ADA administration, open enrollment, and new hire benefits.
- Respond to Team Member and Management inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Guide, mentor, and train the Human Resources Assistant.
- Administer reporting such as the Headcount/Autoneum report and DMR reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years related HR experience and/or training.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Will have broad HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of HRIS (UKG).
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency.
