Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a HR Generalist.

Maintains professional and ethical conduct and demeanor. Models the core values of the hospital and displays a positive image of the Human Resources department.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles data regarding orientation, turnover, vacancies, and assists the Director of Operations in the analysis.
  • Able to put together data from different sources for special projects; prepares reports.
  • Processes leave of absence, including worker’s comp claims, and follows up on correspondence.
  • Researches, compiles data, draws conclusions and makes recommendations to address system problems.
  • Maintains current job descriptions.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all Human Resources and payroll information and maintains confidentiality of other information related to the hospital and related parties.
  • Assists the Human Resources Manager with research and other special projects.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional manner; directs calls appropriately.
  • Maintains records of certifications and licenses.
  • Responds to all inquiries in an expedient manner.
  • Maintains department records, files, policy and procedure manual to meet compliance with federal, state and local laws and Regulations (Joint Commission and DOL).
  • Ensures Human Resources' policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Director of Operations and co-workers.
  • Maintains orientation program including new hire orientation presentations and compiling new hire packets.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Provides leadership for positive work environment and sponsors programs to improve or maintain morale.
  • Recommends programs to enhance staff retention.
  • Educates staff as required, bases on staff development needs.
  • Carefully coordinates processes for recruitment and hiring staff.
  • Reviews, maintains and improves Halogen Evaluation processes/software.
  • Coordinates processes for recruitment and hiring staff.
  • Is a team player; works on special projects with Human Resources staff, schedules workflow.
  • Is a resource person both within the department and to administrative staff of other departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to schedule meetings between departments and management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintains complete and organized employee files, including performance of periodic audits of files.
  • Responsible for the insurance processing by ensuring those eligible employees have completed enrollment forms before the employees waiting period is up.
  • Audits monthly medical, dental, life and other insurances for accuracy.
  • Provides verbal or written responses to Human Resources inquiries, consulting with the Human Resources Manager when needed.
  • Assists all hospital Directors, Managers, and Supervisors to enforce human resources policies and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years experience in business, administrative and/or supervisory experience.
  • Four to six years Human Resource experience required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English; both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills in working with spreadsheets, publishing and graphics programs, and data entry. Includes Hire Bridge, ADP/HRB, and Group One.
  • Possess organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to use all office equipment.
  • Able to type 60-70 words per minute, accurately.
