About the Role

Our Liberty facility employs approximately 220 full-time employees, along with a flexible temporary workforce to support production needs. As an HR Generalist II, you will play a key role in attracting and retaining talent, supporting supervisors, strengthening employee relations, and contributing to the success of the operation.

This position offers a unique opportunity for growth: our HR Manager is currently on leave (expected to return in early 2027), and during this period, you will assume increased responsibility for day-to-day HR operations while receiving support from Corporate HR leadership. You will also provide direction to an HR Coordinator who supports recruiting, onboarding, and other HR activities. Upon the HR Manager’s return, you will continue as a key member of the facility’s HR team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and leaders across the facility.
  • Coach and assist supervisors with employee relations, attendance, performance management, corrective action, and workplace concerns.
  • Independently handle employee relations matters and workplace investigations, escalating to Corporate HR leadership when appropriate.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to the HR Coordinator and collaborate on recruiting, onboarding, and other HR priorities.
  • Recruit, interview, and help select qualified candidates for production, technical, and professional positions.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation to create a positive experience for new employees.
  • Support employee retention and engagement initiatives.
  • Administer and coordinate FMLA, employee leaves, disability programs, workers’ compensation, benefits, and other HR programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information.
  • Support training, performance management, compensation, and talent management activities.
  • Partner with management to communicate HR policies, practices, and workplace expectations.
  • Use HR data and metrics (e.g., recruiting activity, turnover) to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support safety initiatives in collaboration with plant and Corporate Safety leadership.
  • Assist with employee communications, recognition activities, and programs that strengthen the employee experience.
  • Respond to employee concerns and resolve workplace issues professionally, consistently, and promptly.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant experience in employee relations and supporting an hourly workforce.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently handle employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, leave administration, and other day-to-day HR matters while knowing when to escalate complex issues.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and supporting workforce staffing needs.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills with the confidence to advise employees, supervisors, and managers on HR matters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous HR experience in manufacturing, distribution, printing, or another operational environment.
  • Strong experience coaching front-line supervisors and handling employee relations in an hourly workforce.
  • Experience providing work direction, mentoring, or leadership to other HR team members.
  • Experience with Affirmative Action requirements and applicant tracking.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.

Benefits

This role offers the opportunity to become a vital partner to the operation, with significant interaction with employees and leaders, exposure to the full range of HR responsibilities, and the ability to make a visible impact on the workplace. During the HR Manager’s leave, you will operate with increased responsibility, provide direction to an HR team member, and further develop your HR leadership skills while receiving support from Corporate HR. Upon the HR Manager’s return, you will continue in a broad HR Generalist II role as a key member of the facility’s HR team.
