About the role

The HR Generalist serves as a strategic partner to leadership and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. This role is responsible for supporting a positive, inclusive workplace culture and delivering a broad range of HR services, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and continuous improvement. The HR Generalist ensures operational excellence and compliance while fostering engagement and supporting organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support production recruitment needs by facilitating the sourcing, scheduling, and coordinating interview process for identified positions
  • Assist in employee onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives to drive team member engagement and reduce turnover
  • Foster positive employee relations through consistent communication, counseling, and policy interpretation
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide support to employees on various HR-related topics such as benefits, compensation, and policy administration
  • Conduct investigations into workplace issues, including complaints of misconduct or violations of company policy
  • Perform daily floor walks to build relationships with manufacturing team members
  • Conduct exit interviews to ensure team members exiting the company have the appropriate information relative to their separation and collect feedback regarding their time with the Company
  • Perform clerical duties associated with various HRIS programs and other administrative activities
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; consult with Quaker General Counsel as needed
  • Gather and provide separation information in response to unemployment claims and serve as company representative in hearings
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the HR department by driving process improvements and improving efficiency
  • Plan and assist with employee recognition events and activities
  • Promote and support diversity and inclusion
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules
  • Review and analyze data and information concerning employee relations
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor recruitment and onboarding activities
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to eye and foot protection and report potentially unsafe conditions during visits to the production floor. Follow department-specific safety requirements during prolonged visits to the production floor such as Hearing Protection or Dust Masks.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • Proficient in HR Information Systems, Paycom experience preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Human Resources preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Physical Demands

This is primarily an office job and primarily a sedentary role; however, the position requires the ability to climb stairs, lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand as necessary. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer, and file cabinets. Although the employee will primarily be in an office setting, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to visit the factory and be exposed to climactic variations, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office is usually low, but hearing protection may be advisable or required for prolonged visits to certain parts of the factory.

Travel

Approximately <5% travel is required for commuting between the Quaker facilities to meet with employees or to attend recruiting or networking events.
