About the role
The Human Resources Generalist supports the Human Resources Manager with day-to-day HR leadership for the Plant Management of approximately 200+ employees at the North Vernon facility.

Job Responsibilities
- Serves as back-up HR Manager when necessary
- Processes Unemployment Claims
- Tracks and maintains attendance records; prepares attendance notification documents
- Completes Personnel Change Notice forms
- Covers recruitment-related activities including posting/communicating open positions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, updating job descriptions, etc.
- Conducts new-hire orientation
- Process background checks and pre-employment requirements
- Completes employment verification requests
- Maintains employee personnel files
- Serves as a member of the Safety Committee
- Assists with Employee and Labor Relations issues
- Compiles data and publishes related reports including turnover, absenteeism, head count, vacation, etc.
- Compiles and reports Human Resources and Environmental, Health and Safety data
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, or a combination of education and 3-5+ years of work-related experience required
- SHRM Certification preferred
- Minimum 2 to 4+ years of Human Resources experience, preferably in an industrial setting
- Experience with Kronos, ADP or similar HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peers
- Must possess a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential information
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends when required
- Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with a labor union preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and auditing skills required
- Critical decision maker with the ability to work independently
- Bilingual English/Spanish, required
