About the role
The Human Resources Generalist performs HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with other members of the HR team to support the overall mission of the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in recruitment, employee benefits administration, risk management, culture development, pay-scale standardization, and employment law compliance.
An HR Generalist is expected to be a conceptual thinker with strong organizational and conflict management skills, excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate health, life, and disability insurance enrollments and communicate with service providers concerning routine administration.
- Reconcile and validate data entry to ensure data integrity and support routine reporting requests, including running monthly reports.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records by processing status changes in the system in a timely manner.
- Assist in the recruitment process by coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, performing reference checks, and conducting telephone interviews.
- Maintain a listing of approved positions along with assigned salary grade levels.
- Support employee and manager training initiatives and activities, including company-sponsored employee events.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Perform analysis of organizational development and anticipate future employment needs.
- Design and manage the recruitment and selection process (resume screening, screening calls, interviews, etc.).
- Manage candidate pools to ensure qualified candidates remain engaged in current or future opportunities.
- Counsel candidates on corporate benefits, salary, and corporate environment.
- Handle full-cycle recruitment, including medium to high-volume hiring.
- Maintain and generate reports on a regular basis.
- Create and maintain tracking databases related to job openings, referrals, applicant tracking, etc.
- Assist the Human Resource Administrator in creating and distributing documents.
- Maintain computer systems and HR files by updating, filing, and entering data.
- Set appointments and arrange interviews.
- Assist in file audits to ensure all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
- Compile reports and prepare spreadsheets.
- Act as a liaison between workers, managers, and executives in measuring employee engagement.
- Support employee safety, wellness, health, and counseling initiatives, including policy development and handbook creation.
- Develop HR policies and documentation aligned with the company’s corporate vision.
- Develop compensation and benefits systems that fit the organization’s HR responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with department managers to create or modify training and onboarding programs for current employees and new hires.
- Assist other departments with procedural flow, information tracking, and structure to ensure overall success.
- Conduct market research to establish new role development and assist with restructuring according to market standards.
- Establish procedures and align department structure for current candidates and new hires.
- Demonstrate leadership skills to help create company culture standards.
- Assess and issue disciplinary action forms and document accordingly.
- Propose ideas for department structure and cost/time-saving hiring procedures.
- Conduct orientation for new hires and department changes.
- Conduct outreach programs to establish company and candidate awareness for potential new hires.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of Human Resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- High initiative, integrity, strong work ethic, and excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work well in a diverse environment.
- Creative thinker.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
