About the role

This role is at the center of Florence Copper’s people operations. The HR Generalist is a go-to problem solver who helps make the employee experience smooth, accurate, and responsive from hire to exit. This role owns the details that keep HR running—HRIS administration, recruiting and onboarding coordination, benefits support, compliance documentation, employee records, and day-to-day employee support. The ideal candidate brings strong follow-through, sharp attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to turn moving parts into organized, reliable HR service.

Responsibilities

  • HR Operations, Systems & Compliance
    • Maintain HRIS information, employee records, compliance documentation, training records, and HR reports to keep Florence Copper’s people data clean, current, and ready for action.
    • Act as the HR-to-payroll connector by communicating approved employee changes, including compensation, deductions, status changes, and offer-letter terms (payroll calculation and processing remain with the payroll team).
    • Support employment-law requirements, internal policies, record retention, HR calendars, and timely escalation of concerns to keep HR compliant and audit-ready.
  • Recruitment, Onboarding & Employee Support
    • Coordinate job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, offer letters, onboarding checklists, employment eligibility documentation, and orientation logistics to help bring great people into the organization.
    • Serve as a friendly, reliable first stop for routine employee and manager questions, policy guidance, and employee relations intake; document key facts and escalate complex or sensitive matters when needed.
    • Coordinate routine HR requests, resolve basic issues, and connect employees and managers with the right resources to create a smoother employee experience.
  • Benefits, Leave & HR Programs
    • Support employees through benefits questions, enrollment activity, eligibility changes, routine updates, and vendor or plan escalations.
    • Coordinate routine leave-of-absence documentation, status tracking, and escalation of complex leave matters to keep leave processes organized.
    • Support training logistics, engagement activities, HR initiatives, management reporting, and general department administration to help power HR programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive HR experience in operations-focused HR work, including HR systems, employee records, recruiting or onboarding, benefits support, compliance activities, or similar functions.
  • Comfortable working in HR technology, including HRIS or comparable platforms; ATS experience preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, discreet, responsive, and able to juggle multiple priorities without losing focus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
  • Experience with HRIS implementation, reporting, audits, data management, or HR operations in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or similarly regulated environment.

Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of HR operations, employee records, onboarding, benefits support, compliance basics, and HR systems.
  • Ability to stay organized, spot details, protect confidentiality, and keep multiple priorities moving in a busy environment.
  • Clear, approachable communication style with the judgment to support routine employee questions and escalate sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Comfort using HR technology, reports, and data to keep work accurate, visible, and actionable.

Work Environment

Work is performed in office and field settings within an operating industrial facility. The role may require travel throughout the SXEW Plant, Tankhouse, maintenance facilities, and operational areas; work outdoors in varying weather conditions; wear required PPE; navigate stairs, platforms, uneven terrain, and industrial work areas; and occasionally lift and carry materials consistent with normal operational and administrative duties.
