As the Human Resources Director, you will serve as a strategic partner on our Executive Committee, shaping the culture of this boutique luxury hotel in the heart of Palm Desert. Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, you will foster unity and teamwork among our talented associates while overseeing all areas of Human Resources administration.
HOTEL PASEO is part of the Milwaukee-based Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio and offers guests a distinctive desert retreat with 150 thoughtfully designed guest rooms and suites, many with breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains. Responsibilities
- Oversee all areas of Human Resources administration, including associate relations, recruiting and onboarding, training and development, benefit administration, leave of absence, workers compensation, policy compliance, culture building, and community involvement.
- Provide guidance on associate relations issues such as investigations, coaching/counseling, and policy enforcement.
- Recommend, evaluate, and support Marriott and Marcus Hotels’ brand training and development programs, staying current with industry trends to make necessary enhancements.
- Facilitate annual goal setting, performance reviews, salary increases, and bonus payouts for all eligible associates.
- Develop annual budgets for salaried labor and HR operating expenses, ensuring accurate monthly forecasting.
- Act as a member of the Executive Committee, collaborating with peers to support operational departments and develop high-potential leaders.
- Champion associate recognition and service excellence programs, including employee of the month, positive guest survey celebrations, cross-departmental appreciation, and elevating service standards.
- Ensure communication of and compliance with all policies, standards, and practices, as well as federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Provide generalist HR oversight for compensation practices, benefit plans, leave of absence administration, workers compensation, safety and security compliance.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of total HR experience, including responsibility for talent acquisition, associate relations, training, and benefits.
- 3 to 5+ years of proven HR leadership experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Deep knowledge of California labor laws, employee relations strategies, workers' compensation, and HRIS/payroll systems.
- A highly visible, approachable, and hands-on presence with a passion for supporting teams that deliver world-class guest experiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all levels of the organization.
- Budget management experience highly preferred.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft (HRIS) and/or Taleo Enterprise (ATS) is helpful.
- Past Marriott brand experience is ideal but not required.
- Spanish bilingual preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field preferred.

Pay
Salary Estimate: $115,000–$125,000/year.
