With over 40 years of experience in providing Emergency Medical Equipment to First Responders in a multi-state environment, Life-Assist, Inc. is an Employee-Owned Company (ESOP) that continues to evolve and expand. We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Director to champion the employee experience, development, and culture across all Life-Assist work locations throughout the United States.

About the role

Reporting directly to the President, the Human Resources Director will own the complete people function — from strategy and culture to recruiting, performance, and compliance. This role is crucial for ensuring excellence across all areas and fostering teamwork by mentoring and supporting both the HR department and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Human Resources department and operate as part of the company’s Leadership Team.
  • Manage all aspects of the Human Resources function, including recruiting, onboarding, leadership development, engagement programs, performance culture, and workforce planning in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Champion continuous improvement as a cultural value.
  • Design and deliver leadership development and training programs.
  • Advise executive leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent strategy.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • SPHR certification in human resources.
  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to build and scale HR functions in a growing company operating in a multi-state environment.
  • Both strategic and hands-on — comfortable designing scalable frameworks and staying close to operational details.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, resilience, and a proactive attitude.
  • Can-do mindset.
