Human Resources Consultant 1
About the role
The Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) seeks a Human Resource Consultant 1 (HRC1) to provide direct customer-level professional human resource service including benefits and leave administration, recruitment, human management system data entry, and reasonable accommodation processes.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct assistance to employees for human resources, benefits, retirement and payroll process needs.
- Enters, retrieves and validates data from human resource information or other computerized recordkeeping systems supporting payroll, benefits, personnel files, position files, performance evaluations, employee training and development.
- Processes data entry for employee, payroll, benefits safety and health systems.
- Copies correspondence and processes hiring and appointment actions.
- Maintains records and statistics, analyzes and compiles data and information for reporting, prepares narrative or statistical reports, assists with public disclosure requests.
- Conducts recruitment efforts including developing job postings, screening applicants, developing interview questions, training interview panel members, and providing advisement to hiring managers for candidate selection.
- Affords assistance to develop and implement employee training.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or a related field OR equivalent education/experience.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and ethical HR practices.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
- Experience with HRIS or data systems.
- Customer-service orientation.
- Ability and willingness to work as a team and independently as tasks require.
