About the Role
Spire is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to work onsite in our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position will consult with local and regional leaders throughout Missouri within assigned business units, providing guidance and support across all areas of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
- Function as an internal consultant to management and others by helping identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions, and understanding/representing the employee perspective.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) across areas including employee relations, change management, employee development, and performance assessment.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations, including claims of discrimination and harassment. Serve as a resource for employees with related questions and concerns.
- Drive an inclusive culture using data, metrics, and industry best practices. Support EEO and Affirmative Action initiatives, ensuring training, communications, and policies address areas of under-utilization and compliance with corporate objectives.
- Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures and workforce planning. Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions, ensuring plans are actively implemented.
- Assist with labor relations initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and NLRB legislation, including contract preparation, negotiations, and interpretation.
- Maintain business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, midrange plans, culture, and competition. Stay abreast of current HR legislation and trends, updating programs as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar discipline required.
- Minimum of 7 years of Human Resources experience or 3 years of direct experience as a Human Resources Business Partner.
- Experience supporting a geographically dispersed workforce is a plus.
- Experience providing HR services in a Union environment is a plus.
- SPHR/PHR Certification preferred.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Schedule
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days remote) following onboarding. Ability to travel up to 10-20% is required.
