Human Resources Benefits Specialist
Responsibilities
- Affords liaison duties for department benefits between participants/members, employees, plans administrators, boards of trustees, and providers.
- Develops and coordinates programs and materials for new employee orientation and enrollment sessions, pre-retirement seminars, statewide insurance meetings, training sessions, and other informational meetings.
- Provides employee benefit advisory assistance to supervisors and employees statewide; assists in counseling employees on benefit options.
- Reviews documents, forms and reports to ensure payroll coding, transactions, and adjustments are correct; coordinates payroll corrections, processes forms necessary to enroll, maintain, and update employee benefits.
- Assists in monitoring and researching new laws, regulations, and changes pertaining to benefits; recommends improvements or required changes to benefits to comply with laws and maintain a contemporary benefits package.
- Evaluates and develops internal policies, procedures, manuals, handbooks, forms, and creates reports.
- Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources/Personnel Management, Business Administration, or related field, OR four years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Good interpersonal, consultative, and communication skills; strong public speaking skills, both in large and small group settings.

- Occasional, statewide, overnight travel may be required.
