Human Resources Associate - Service Center

About the Role

University Human Resources is committed to supporting the university’s mission and strategic objectives through effective leadership, guidance, and comprehensive administration in key areas such as classification, recruitment, payroll, benefits, and employee and labor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide various HR services, including communication with campus, procedural guidance, and troubleshooting by analyzing situations, conducting research, exercising sound judgment, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Onboarding New Employees:
    • Ensure a smooth and welcoming new hire orientation by preparing all event materials and providing on-site logistical support.
    • Handle the administrative tasks of onboarding, guiding new hires through required paperwork to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Employee Records Management:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with university policies and federal regulations related to hiring, position changes, departures, and other personnel actions.
    • Process and manage employee data efficiently and securely within established systems.
  • Relations and Support:
    • Respond to frequently asked questions from employees and departments regarding standard HR policies and federal procedures.
    • Provide accurate and timely information while directing complex inquiries to the appropriate HR personnel.

Requirements

  • Administrative Experience: Experience working in an administrative support role in a professional office setting.
  • Communication Skills: Skilled in interpreting and explaining complex information or procedures through both written and verbal communication.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in standard office computer systems and software, such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Data Entry: Performed high-volume data entry with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to deliver training and presentations effectively to small and large audiences.
  • Demonstrated skill in gathering and analyzing information to assess complex human resources issues.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with multi-relational databases.
  • Combination of education and/or applicable experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience in Human Resources.

  • Professional Representation: Consistently represents University Human Resources with professionalism, a positive attitude, and a neat appearance, fostering a positive image across campus.
