Position Overview
Performs a variety of administrative and support functions with accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness to efficiently operate the department. Supports property and liability insurance, leave administration, and workers' compensation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter leave-of-absence (LOA) data into the time keeping system and/or HRIS accurately and monitor employee time-off balances.
- Track short-term disability, long-term disability, workers’ compensation claims and leave buyback programs.
- Maintain return-to-work clearances and ensure appropriate documentation is filed.
- Prepare and issue required legal forms and documents related to leave administration.
- Communicate leave approvals, denials, updates, and return-to-work information to supervisors, department heads, and payroll.
- Maintain secure and confidential medical records for all employees.
- Backup to payroll processing through preparation of biweekly leave reports, reviewing timekeeping leave coding.
- Process personnel actions related to employee status changes and leave buyback programs.
- Manage and maintain files related to property, liability, and automobile insurance claims.
- Serve as liaison to the County’s workers’ compensation insurance carrier for claim coordination and updates.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable processes for the human resources department.
- Process auto reimbursements and annual sick leave and disability options.
- Collect and verify tuition reimbursement for processing.
- Support employee benefit inquiries and requests.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in an office environment; experience in a Human Resources office environment is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is required; familiarity with Infor/Lawson is preferred.
- Experience with leave management, preferred.
