Human Resources Assistant III (C) (Employee Relations)
About the role
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking a Human Resources Assistant III (C) (Employee Relations) to join our team. This position is located at Headquarters in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Employee Relations.
- Respond to inquiries related to employee relations matters from employees, managers, union representatives, and staff.
- Prepare and maintain employee relations correspondence, reports, records, and other confidential documents.
- Maintain a database of grievances, disciplinary actions, and investigations and other employee relations administrative matters.
- Perform data entry and research by updating and verifying data to ensure accurate records and reporting.
- Cover meetings, calendars, travel arrangements, agendas, and other administrative activities.
- Support office operations, purchasing, special projects, and other assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years relevant experience; or two years in an MWD Human Resources Assistant II classification.
- Relevant Experience: Experience includes providing administrative support or performing in an employee relations / labor relations function.
- Desirable: Experience working in a unionized public-sector environment, including handling confidential employee relations records, grievances, disciplinary actions, leaves, separations, union release time, and unemployment claims.
Qualifications
- License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application).

Pay

Schedule
9/80, Monday through Friday / Every other Friday off. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm. Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
