About the role
Lead end-to-end payroll operations for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Manage payroll schedules, payroll reconciliations, reporting cycles, and payroll-related activities in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Tax, and external payroll vendors to ensure seamless payroll processing, system integration, and data accuracy.
- Oversee payroll tax filings, remittances, year-end reporting, and compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
- Monitor changes in payroll legislation and ensure organizational compliance with IRS, CRA, and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Lead payroll audits, internal controls, and risk mitigation initiatives to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll inquiries, issue resolution, and employee concerns.
- Manage, mentor, and develop payroll team members by establishing performance expectations, providing coaching, and fostering professional growth.
- Drive payroll process improvements through automation, technology enhancements, and best practice implementation.
- Develop and maintain payroll reporting and analytics to support business decisions and provide strategic insights to leadership.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on workforce changes, acquisitions, organizational restructuring, and payroll-related business initiatives.
- Monitor payroll service levels, KPIs, and operational metrics to ensure a high-quality employee experience and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, with experience in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in both U.S. and Canadian payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Strong understanding of payroll systems and HRIS integrations.
Skills
- ADP Workforce Now and/or ADP GlobalView – advanced proficiency in payroll processing and reporting.
- Oracle HCM Cloud – experience with payroll data management, integrations, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP or PCP certification.
Pay
Pay Range: $92K - $115K per year. Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
