About the role

We’re looking for a dynamic Human Resources Manager who is both strategic and hands-on. In this role, you’ll be a key partner to leadership, helping to build a thriving workplace culture while ensuring our people practices align with our mission and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Culture
    • Partner with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with organizational goals
    • Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture
    • Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, organizational development, and change management
  • Talent & Employee Experience
    • Lead full-cycle recruitment to attract mission-aligned talent
    • Design and enhance onboarding experiences that set employees up for success
    • Develop engagement and retention initiatives that support employee satisfaction
  • Performance & Development
    • Implement and manage performance management systems
    • Create training and professional development programs
    • Identify growth opportunities that align employee goals with organizational needs
  • Compliance & HR Operations
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
    • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures
    • Stay current on HR trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Compensation, Benefits & Administration
    • Oversee compensation and benefits programs to remain competitive
    • Collaborate with brokers to evaluate and manage benefits and insurance plans
    • Support payroll processing through accurate documentation
    • Manage insurance renewals and related administrative processes

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelors
  • Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: What You Bring
    • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field… (or Associate’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience)
    • Experience: 2+ years of HR experience (more is welcome – we value depth of experience)
    • Environment: Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment preferred
    • HR Certification: (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
  • Skills & Strengths: Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices; Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills; Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically; High emotional intelligence and cultural competency; Experience with HR systems (BambooHR is a plus); Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
