About the role

The Human Resources (HR) Manager will be the primary point of contact for all HR functions and collaborate closely with leadership to support a diverse, peer-led workforce. Key responsibilities include leading recruitment and staffing, onboarding and offboarding, driving performance management, ensuring compliance with employment laws, strategic planning, policy development and compliance, compensation and benefits, maintaining human resources records, managing employee relations, processing payroll, position management, and compensation analysis and budgeting. Assist in fostering an inclusive work environment through the development and communication of policies and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the hiring process, including job postings, interviews, and the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Handle workplace conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Create and enforce company policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws and nonprofit regulations (e.g., grant related employment terms).
  • Oversee employee evaluations, set goals, and support managers in improving performance.
  • Identify training needs, organize programs, and support career development initiatives.
  • Administer salary structures, benefits programs, and ensure market competitiveness.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with occupational health regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align HR practices with organizational goals.
  • Develop initiatives to boost morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Conduct exit interviews, facilitate offboarding processes, and provide feedback to enhance retention and employee experience.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure policies and practices are equitable and inclusive, reflecting PRN’s mission and unique environment.
  • Partner with managers and employees to support PRN’s performance management processes, providing coaching, tools, and resources that align with the organization’s values of hope, healing, and personal growth.
  • Assist with the creation and management of individualized development plans and feedback mechanisms.
  • Provide accurate data and documentation to facilitate timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Facilitate DEI-related initiatives, training, and policy development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, including personnel files, disciplinary actions, training logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Continuously assess and improve HR functions, incorporating feedback and emerging trends in the nonprofit, peer-led community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Human Resources certification, e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally including work in a nonprofit setting.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and common office software (e.g., Excel, MS workspace, HR platforms).
  • Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN’s mission, values, philosophy, and guidance to team members.
  • Demonstrates taking personal responsibility, being dependable, reliable, working as a team player, and utilizing personal determination skills.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, is ethical and approachable.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public, providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage time and complete tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Pay

$90,000 – $105,000 per year based on experience.
