About the Role

The Human Resources Generalist-Benefits (HRG-Benefits) performs professional-level HR duties and works closely with the Senior Human Resources Manager (SHRM) to support HR objectives, fostering an employee-oriented, high-performance culture. This role encompasses benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Administers human resources plans and procedures for all personnel.
  • Participates in developing and implementing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Meets regularly with the SHRM to discuss organizational goals, strategies, and HR’s role in supporting them.
  • Tracks and verifies HR-related invoices and expenses, including benefits and departmental costs.
  • Assists with compensation and performance management programs, including processing evaluations and revisions.
  • Oversees benefits administration, including plan review, claims resolution, and employee communications.
  • Assists with developing and reporting required items, such as affirmative action plans, EEO-1, EEO-4, and other annual reports.
  • Handles employee relations, including coaching, counseling, and addressing complaints or harassment allegations.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and recommends corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates departmental reports, decisions, and results, recommending new policies or procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintains HRIS electronic and paper files for employees, students, travelers, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefit laws and regulations.
  • Completes employment paperwork and maintains accurate employee records.
  • Coordinates and presents new employee orientation and assists with onboarding.
  • Maintains effective communication regarding new hires, employment changes, and terminations.
  • Manages benefit enrollment processes, including new enrollments, qualifying events, and terminations.
  • Serves as a liaison between employees and benefit plan companies to resolve conflicts or provide information.
  • Processes paperwork for annual merit increases, market adjustments, and compensation structure updates.
  • Manages Worker’s Compensation Insurance and the safety program with support from HR Leadership.
  • Oversees employee leaves, including ADA, FMLA, PHEL, and other mandatory leave requirements.
  • Manages the monthly random drug screening program.
  • Oversees the performance management and annual appraisal process.
  • Handles employee relations issues, including coaching, training, and internal investigations.
  • Manages multiple concurrent projects, setting priorities and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Applies knowledge of HR practices, healthcare regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Interprets and communicates complex policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proactively directs work and resolves issues with guidance from HR Leadership.
  • Demonstrates emotional maturity, confidentiality, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive situations.
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Exercises good judgment in decision-making and escalates issues when necessary.
  • Supports team priorities and collaborates to achieve team goals.
  • Establishes personal standards for quality and efficiency in work processes.
  • Adapts to changes in job requirements and organizational priorities.
  • Participates in special projects as requested by the SHRM.
  • Provides employees with proper access to the HRIS system.
  • Serves as a backup for other HR team members when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including occasional weekend work for special events.

  • Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen (and breath alcohol test if applicable).
  • Must complete an employee health meeting.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources preferred.
  • Human Resources Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in human resources and staffing/recruitment preferred.
  • Healthcare HR experience highly preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Comprehensive HRIS and computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, set priorities, and follow through to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of healthcare recruiting and hospital operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple group dynamics.
  • Ability to manage stress, handle pressure, and make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to collaboration and building consensus.

Pay

$66,726.40 to $100,089.60
