About the Role

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will serve as a one-stop shop for HR matters, streamlining processes, enhancing employee relations, and creating efficiencies between HR and operational departments. This role is key to identifying, developing, and grooming HR team members for career advancement while supporting Live! Casino & Hotel’s rapid expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with managers and team members to discuss coaching, counseling, and disciplinary issues.
  • Manage, oversee, and ensure fair application of progressive discipline.
  • Investigate employee relations issues and coach management on appropriate actions.
  • Review and investigate grievances in the Labor Relations process to guide management responses.
  • Review and critique Performance Reviews, assist with ratings, and help craft constructive feedback.
  • Analyze exit interviews to assist management in retention and recognition strategies.
  • Articulate and implement organizational/departmental changes to ensure team member buy-in.
  • Represent management in Unemployment Insurance Claims and hearings.
  • Interview finalists for management roles to assess capabilities.
  • Review files to respond to employment verification requests.
  • Investigate, respond to, and route payroll questions and disputes.
  • Collaborate with management to write job descriptions and communicate staffing needs to recruiters.
  • Coordinate, enter, and manage employee file information (electronic and hard copy).
  • Handle information requests and communications (emails, phone calls).
  • Attend pre-shift and departmental meetings to represent company philosophy and practices.
  • Facilitate mediation meetings between managers and team members.
  • Understand operations to become a subject matter expert (scheduling, SOPs, training, challenges).
  • Adjust HR strategies to respond to changing business needs.
  • Identify talent issues before they impact the business and develop the next generation of leaders.
  • Prioritize HR needs and identify critical HR metrics.
  • Assess employee attitudes and communicate organizational culture and policies.
  • Ensure HR programs align with company culture and keep teams updated on HR initiatives.
  • Track trends in employee behavior.
  • Manage conflict between team members and managers.
  • Respond to organizational changes and resolve political challenges in department execution.
  • Act as an emergency responder for complaints, line manager questions, and team member needs.

Requirements

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of human resources experience, including generalist experience in staffing/recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, and training/development.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resource Management or related field; PHR or SPHR certification preferred. MS or MBA a plus.
  • Ability to work in an alcohol and smoking environment.
  • Must secure and maintain licensure as required by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board or other applicable regulatory entities.

  • Ability to perform duties under pressure with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Comfort working in an interruptive, high-energy casino environment with bright lights, noise, and smoking.
  • Accuracy and timeliness in completing assigned duties.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including extended shifts, to meet team member schedules.

  • Frequent use of stairs (31 steps) and elevators multiple times per day.

Schedule

24/7 operation requiring flexibility to meet team member schedules, including extended hours for staffing, relations, and employee matters.
