Position Specifics

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, in Hershey, PA is seeking a candidate for a Full-Time Human Research Technologist (Sleep).

As a sleep technician, the position will be accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings (including consecutive night studies) for clinical trials in human subjects; monitor and track research study files to ensure quality control of data collected.

Work hours: 3rd shift, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings;
  • Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies;
  • Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine);
  • Perform PSGs and participate in the collection of Actigraphy, and other research participant data;
  • Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies;
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • Required Certifications: None
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred. Will consider candidates with prior training in sleep studies who have suitable work experience.
