About the role

The Folly Lighthouse offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore a piece of Jamaica’s maritime history. It is managed by the National Heritage Trust of Jamaica, which ensures the preservation and maintenance of the lighthouse and its surroundings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the lighthouse and its grounds in a safe and secure condition.
• Ensure proper lighting and operational readiness of the lighthouse.
• Provide guided tours to visitors, sharing the lighthouse’s history and significance.
• Respond to inquiries and provide information about the lighthouse and its surroundings.
• Participate in community events and educational programs related to maritime history.

Requirements

• A passion for history and the environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina for occasional outdoor activities.
• Knowledge of Jamaican history and culture is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in tourism or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic computer literacy.
