About the role

The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible for overseeing daily work activities, promoting enhanced safety compliance and performance, and providing safety training to designated personnel. The Specialist will perform daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual inspections on various tools, equipment, and other facility items, in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of all company policies and procedures, as well as other work processes.
  • Monitor compliance of Company, client and governmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Conduct frequent inspections, focusing on unsafe conditions and unsafe work behavior.
  • Participate in Facility New Employee Orientations.
  • Maintain HSE records in compliance with all recordkeeping standards.
  • Facilitate or coordinate safety training as necessary.
  • Conduct frequent facility hazard inspections and ensure the appropriate hazard control technique has been implemented for all machines, equipment, vehicles and tools.
  • Investigate all incidents, including first aids and near misses and participate in formal Root Cause Analysis investigations, as required.
  • Coordinate Facility Emergency Action Plan procedures.
  • Verify that employees are issued and use the appropriate personal protective equipment for potential and existing hazards.
  • Perform regular jobsite inspections of all crews to identify any unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ safety experience
  • Any certifications and training as a safety professional a plus; OSHA Out-Reach Trainer preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation and Interpersonal skills (Written and oral).

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting / standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
