About the role
The HSE Specialist I position is an entry-level professional safety role designed for those interested in contributing to a dynamic and growing organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading electrical contractor and to contribute to the safety and success of various projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and medical facilities to maintain effective working relationships.
- Support and promote the company’s safety program and local incident prevention initiatives to reduce risk behaviors.
- Absorb and implement project-based safety programs aligned with strategic goals.
- Contribute to pre-task planning and job site safety meetings.
- Prepare and deliver safety meetings and training to enhance hazard awareness.
- Develop and review job hazard analyses to identify risks and control measures.
- Support incident, near-miss, and claim investigations and communications.
- Maintain working knowledge of company HSE standards, programs, and objectives.
- Promote HSE goals across projects to ensure a safe and productive environment.
- Develop routine HSE project plans and specifications.
- Assist in conducting audits, inspections, evaluations, and incident investigations.
- Maintain required reports and documentation to meet corporate and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Professional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- A thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, and supporting administrative practices
- Demonstrated time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
- Ability to develop analytical and problem-solving skills
- Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
- Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees within regional business units, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
Qualifications
- 4 Year related degree, OR High School Diploma and Minimum 4 years related experience.
- OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, STS-C
- Ability to spend 80% of working time on active construction sites.
- Travel up to 25% as needed.
