About the role

The HSE Specialist I position is an entry-level professional safety role designed for those interested in contributing to a dynamic and growing organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading electrical contractor and to contribute to the safety and success of various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and medical facilities to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Support and promote the company’s safety program and local incident prevention initiatives to reduce risk behaviors.
  • Absorb and implement project-based safety programs aligned with strategic goals.
  • Contribute to pre-task planning and job site safety meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver safety meetings and training to enhance hazard awareness.
  • Develop and review job hazard analyses to identify risks and control measures.
  • Support incident, near-miss, and claim investigations and communications.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company HSE standards, programs, and objectives.
  • Promote HSE goals across projects to ensure a safe and productive environment.
  • Develop routine HSE project plans and specifications.
  • Assist in conducting audits, inspections, evaluations, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain required reports and documentation to meet corporate and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, and supporting administrative practices
  • Demonstrated time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to develop analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees within regional business units, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

Qualifications

  • 4 Year related degree, OR High School Diploma and Minimum 4 years related experience.
  • OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, STS-C
  • Ability to spend 80% of working time on active construction sites.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed.
