About the role
The Safety Specialist will oversee all safety activities at the client site, promote a safe work culture, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all safety activities performed at the client site under the direction of the Safety Manager.
- Promote and maintain a safe work culture by implementing safety programs and being actively present in the manufacturing environment to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations alongside company policies.
- Interface with employees, contractors, and visitors regarding safety matters, compliance, and concerns.
- Conduct safety training sessions on programs such as lockout/tagout, line break, hazard communication, and confined space.
- Perform new hire and contractor safety orientations.
- Lead monthly Safety Action Team meetings.
- Investigate near miss incidents and injuries, providing follow-up corrective actions.
- Manage online safety training via LITMOS portal and oversee safety audits and compliance measures.
- Review Standard Operating Procedures and policies to ensure OSHA standards are met and industry best practices are followed.
- Assist with Job Hazard Analysis reviews and create safety education materials like One Point Lessons and Safety Alerts.
- Monitor behavior observational surveys and near-miss reports for continuous safety improvements.
- Perform additional safety duties as required.
- Hands-on experience conducting safety audits and leading safety meetings.
- Proven ability to develop and implement engaging safety programs that foster a safety-focused culture.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MassDEP, and related local EHS regulations.
- Experience in investigating near misses and injuries.
- Strong interpersonal skills for leading corrective actions and EHS projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Infrequent travel for training purposes.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and lift over 50 lbs as required.
- Ability to wear PPE and work in confined spaces, including climbing towers and storage tanks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proven leadership and management experience in safety initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Occasional weekend/evening coverage may be required)
