HSE Manager
Serve as an active member of the Site Leadership Team, influencing business decisions to ensure safe and compliant operations
Develop and execute site-wide HSE strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements
Champion a strong safety culture by promoting transparency, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Promote positive relationships with the nearby community, industrial community, and local Chamber of Commerce
Act as a role model for safety leadership and mentor HSE staff and site leadership
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
Maintain working knowledge of applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, RCRA, PSM, SPCC) and environmental permits
Promote positive relationships with the nearby community, industrial community, and local Chamber of Commerce
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
Maintain risk assessments, process safety management (PSM), hazard analysis programs (PHA, HAZOP, JSA), and incident investigations are robust
Mentor safety committees, behavioral safety programs, and employee engagement initiatives
Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders
Conduct and oversee safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure corrective actions are implemented
Ensure effective emergency response programs, drills, and coordination with local agencies
Develop and deliver HSE training programs to ensure workforce competency and compliance
Maintain accurate records and submit required external regulatory reports (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and internal Syensqo reports
Track, analyze, and communicate HSE performance metrics to drive improvement
Manage departmental budget and resource allocation effectively
Lead, develop, and manage HSE staff and contractors
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
Foster collaboration across departments to achieve site HSE goals
Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering or HSE-related field
Certified Safety Professional
12+ years in health, safety, and environmental area in the chemical industry.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or management role
Strong leadership and influence skills in a manufacturing environment
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety management systems
Analytical and problem-solving capability for risk identification and mitigation
Pay
The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $135,000 to $160,000 per year.
