HS Strings Teacher
About the role
The Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School seeks a high school instrumental music teacher with a strings specialization. The position involves teaching stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) to students in grades 7-12, with all students learning a stringed instrument in 7th grade and half continuing in instrumental music through the 12th grade. The role also includes developing project-based curriculum that includes orchestra as well as creative music projects in varied ensemble configurations.
Responsibilities
- Teach stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass)
- Develop project-based curriculum including orchestra and creative music projects in varied ensemble configurations
- Work with students in grades 7-12
- Additional experience working in modern band settings and/or with guitar, keyboard, and drums is preferred
Requirements
- New York State music teaching certification
- Experience or interest in developing project-based curriculum that includes orchestra and creative music projects in varied ensemble configurations
- Experience teaching stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass)
Qualifications
- Preferred: Additional experience working in modern band settings and/or with guitar, keyboard, and drums
