About the Role
The Human Resource Information System Analyst maintains the integrity and reliability of the organization's HRIS, ensuring applications meet the needs, requirements, and objectives of the HR department. This role collects, compiles, and analyzes HR data, metrics, and statistics to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance. The position serves as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional areas, assists with data integrity, system changes, report writing, and process improvements. Additionally, the analyst trains HR members on HRIS systems and applications, collaborates with payroll and benefits, and acts as the HR department liaison to IT.
Responsibilities
- Manages permissions, access, personalization, and system operations for HRIS users.
- Collaborates with HR, finance, and IT to maintain and improve the HRIS, including configuration, end-user access, security, and system efficiency.
- Processes data change requests, resolves issues, and documents customer inquiries and resolutions.
- Identifies and recommends short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
- Recommends process improvements, innovative solutions, and policy changes for leadership approval.
- Generates, writes, maintains, and supports reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools.
- Assists in developing standard reports for ongoing customer needs and maintains data integrity through queries and analysis.
- Compiles complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
- Maintains awareness of current HRMS trends, focusing on product development, delivery, and support.
- Continuously increases HR and HRIS knowledge through training, reading, and other mechanisms.
- Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis.
- Assesses system utilization, identifies improvements, and recommends training, customization, or enhancements.
- Identifies, recommends, and programs custom functions such as automated queries, filters, macros, and reports.
- Assists HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
- May conduct or assist with classification audits to ensure proper job classification (exempt/nonexempt).
- May guide or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review processes.
- Plans and communicates best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees.
- Advises management on employment regulations, benefits, compensation policies, HR procedures, and collective agreements.
- Assists with day-to-day HR operations, including safety, compliance, and communication.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
- At least three years of experience in job classification, compensation, recruitment, training, employee benefits, or equal opportunity compliance.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Previous ADP experience preferred.
Skills
- Thorough understanding of information systems, with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product.
- Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality.
Working Conditions
- Frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves more than 15 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May occasionally require travel, nights, weekends, or non-standard hours.
